We wandered through Burnham Market High Street (for portraits of Harriet and Adam) when a striking bright yellow ice cream truck caught our eye. Neil and I, slipping into our usual quick side chat as husband and wife, debated a fun idea while Harriet and Adam lingered a few steps behind, blissfully unaware of the plan brewing. Convinced it was too good an opportunity to miss, we decided to make a move.

Neil, ever the charmer, approached the vendor to ask if Harriet and Adam could hop into the truck for a quick photo. After a brief conversation, the vendor regrettably said no. Our collective disappointment was visible and our shoulders slumped in unison.

However, Neil wasn’t ready to give up just yet. With a grin, he bought two ice creams and gestured for us to follow. “Come with me,” he said, leading us to the other side of the truck. There, with the vibrant yellow as a backdrop and the bustling street scene around us, we captured Harriet and Adam in a series of spontaneous, joyful photos. Ice creams in hand, they radiated happiness.

We continued our stroll down the high street, capturing casual, candid shots along the way. It was toward the end of this impromptu session that we captured what would become one of our favorite photos of the year: Harriet and Adam, with their ice creams nearly finished, laughing joyfully in front of the quaint signage of The Hoste.

You know, it might seem a bit cheesy, but these are the kinds of moments that show why I love working with Neil so much. He’s always got a trick up his sleeve, and somehow, he makes every situation a bit better.

Harriet and Adam trusted us to make the best of every moment, and we’re really grateful for that. It makes all the difference when couples are up for just going along for the ride with us. The aim is really just to have fun with our cameras.
