We once lived near the Norfolk Broads, and Great Yarmouth was a favorite local spot for us. Each visit left us astonished by its unique, almost dystopian atmosphere. I spent several childhood weekends there, and it was always oddly unchanged, yet strikingly different each time—familiar, yet bizarrely frozen in time.
We had always talked about wanting to do a photo shoot there, but the right opportunity never seemed to arise. So, when Naomi and Tom booked us and chose Great Yarmouth as their location, we were overjoyed. They were initially surprised that our top spots were the docking area and in front of the worn buildings. Naomi and Tom trusted us completely—which we absolutely loved—and together, we created photos that each of us adores for different reasons.
Now, let’s hand it over to Naomi and Tom to share more about their experience.
Everyone said living in London you won’t meet anyone the ‘old fashioned way’ and it would only happen with the dreaded online dating! Little did we know that at a work Christmas do, our love for all things Christmas and family traditions would bring us together. Thankfully we continued dating even after a competitive round of crazy golf on our first date!
It happened in a picturesque park near the Plaza de España in Seville. We’d spent the last 2 weeks celebrating two close friends’ weddings in Ireland and Spain and were then enjoying a minibreak together. After spending time finding a quiet spot in the park, and finally getting me to sit down on a bench, Tom got down on one knee and popped the question! Little did I know that Tom had hidden the ring in his toilet bag and placed it in the hold for 3 flights! Thankfully the ring was safe and we celebrated at a top restaurant with a bottle of bubbly!
We were super excited but nervous about ‘posing’ and of the thought of being put in awkward positions! As soon as we met, Lisa and Neil put us at ease and had us laughing, enabling them to capture those all important candid shots! The suggestions by them of meeting closer to sunset was perfect and enabled us to have a range of photos in a place very close to Naomi’s heart. We now can’t wait for you to capture our special day!
We’re getting married in Spring 2025 at Hethersett Church which is Naomi’s family church, followed by a reception at Kimberley Hall. We picked our reception venue not just because it’s stunning inside and out, but we can have all of our close family and the bridal party stay with us all weekend.
Naomi: I think it will be once we are married and the nerves have gone and we can relax and enjoy the rest of the day with our loved ones. Oh, and the food because if it’s anything like our food tasting it’ll be incredible!
Tom: Being able to call Naomi my wife in front of all our family and friends, and then busting some shapes on the dancefloor!
Spreadsheets, spreadsheets, spreadsheets! It’s made planning a dream and has kept us organised from to-do lists, invoice details and monitoring RSVPs!
Not the worst advice as such but having to limit the guestlist due to cost and venue numbers has meant us making difficult decisions on who to invite. It’d be great to have everyone we could there but it’s not feasible and you have to draw a line somewhere. We learned to not overthink it and make the decisions together!
Naomi: Mine has to be the one in the dunes where we are both looking at each other and laughing, at what I cannot remember! It just captures the experience completely.
Tom: There’s one next to a fence in an industrial part of Great Yarmouth where we are both laughing and Naomi has her hand in front her mouth as she was snorting! When Neil took us there, we were both thinking ‘where is he taking us?!’ but the photos from this area were really good, and some of the poses they had us doing had us laughing hysterically!
Thank you Naomi and Tom for doing the questions 🙂
